Novice Teacher Mentoring

As DESE is transforming Arkansas to lead the nation in student-focused education, NWAESC seeks to further that vision by deepening the knowledge and skills of teachers and administrators in Northwest Arkansas so that they lead students to a deeper understanding and application of the knowledge and skills required to reach his/her individual potential.

Our novice teacher program supports and assists DESE’s vision, mission, and goals regarding the successful growth of novice teachers so that they continue their growth toward becoming effective educational leaders who enjoy and remain in the profession. We have a specialist specifically dedicated to novice Special Education teachers to support their unique needs.

We also support administrators as they transition into their role as leaders. Our goal is to make sure they have the tools and skills they need to be effective leaders and retain skilled teachers in their buildings.

Finally, we work to recruit quality candidates who can continue the legacy of excellent education in the state of Arkansas. This includes, but is not limited to, supporting grow-your-own initiatives such as teacher cadet programs, assisting candidates with licensure pathway decisions, and connecting candidates with financial assistance opportunities.
